5 Places to Wear a Little Black Dress || Ann Taylor Dress & Nude Heels

Hello Hello,

Do you ever run into one of those “I don’t know what to wear” situations? I know I do. On one too many occasions.
While I don’t mind shopping for an entire new outfit, I also believe in versatility and re-wearing things already in my closet.

One of my key essential fashion piece for my wardrobe is a little black dress. I think that a black dress can be worn for a variety of occasions. All of you have to do is change up your accessories and shoes to make it match the event accordingly. When in doubt, wear black.

This is not to say you shouldn’t wear color. You should definitely invest in colored clothing pieces. But a little black dress will take you a long way.

The black dress I have on is from Ann Taylor. It is in petite sizing, but there’s regular sizing available. (I also like this one and this one) I love the wrap front of the dress. It keeps it interesting. I also like the length of the dress and the arm length of the dress. When looking for the most versatile little black dress, find one that’s not too long and not too short. This way, you can wear it to different occasions without worrying about it being an appropriate length.

Here are 5 places you can wear a little black dress to:

WEAR YOUR LITTLE BLACK DRESS TO WORK:

I know, this one is boring. But you can most certainly wear a little black dress to work. The one I have on is not too short for work. I can definitely layer a button-up underneath or a blazer on top. A black dress is also simple, chic, and minimal. You won’t have to worry about being color appropriate.

WEAR YOUR LITTLE BLACK DRESS TO A WEDDING:
I know that a lot of times, or most of the time, I want to wear patterns or colors to a wedding. However, there are times when I just can’t find anything interesting to wear so I opt for a black dress. The one I have on, again, is not too short or too long. I can put on a statement necklace and a pair of statement heels to give it extra bling. A LBD works as the perfect palette to accessorize.

WEAR YOUR LITTLE BLACK DRESS TO A NICE DINNER/DINNER DATE:
A LBD looks polished and formal without being too much. It also looks like you put some effort into your outfit. Maybe curl your hair, wear a bold lip, and add a pretty necklace to finish your look. Again, a black dress is dressy but not too over the top. Plus, if you spill or drop food on your lap or sleeves, it won’t look too obvious.

WEAR YOUR LITTLE BLACK DRESS TO A FUNERAL:
For obvious reason, I would avoid wearing lacy, tight, or thin bodycon black dresses to a funeral. But a versatile little black dress can definitely be worn to a funeral. I would suggest wearing tights under and layering a black blouse or button-up underneath. Keep your look minimal and simple.

WEAR YOUR LITTLE BLACK DRESS TO A FAMILY/FRIEND GATHERING:
The holidays are upon us!! It’s true. Next month is Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then it’s a New Year. Where did time go?! Anywho, a little black dress will definitely be appropriate for all of those family gatherings and friends gathering that you may be invited to. You won’t even have to accessorize, keep your look minimal and it’ll still be chic.

And those are 5 places you can wear a little black dress. I’m sure you can wear them to a lot of other celebrations as well. I think a versatile black dress is a great edition to have in any closet. I’ve featured a few of my favorites above.

Thank you for reading. As always, I wish you the best =)
