As August draws near a close, I can’t help but think about Autumn. I love summer, but I love Fall too (read my Things to love about Autumn post here). Thinking about the seasons changing, and seeing change, is one thing that keeps me inspired. Feeling inspired keeps me motivated.
Someone once asked me where I find inspiration. My answer was something along the lines of “everything.” Which is true and still true today. However, there are days or periods of my life when I don’t feel inspired. I do things just to do things but there’s nothing awe-ing from within, no sense of purpose or joy, no energy. It’s during those moments when I physically push myself to go and find inspiration. I want to share a few of those ways with you today.
A few things I do when I need to feel inspired:
Whether this means sitting outside, going for a walk, or just driving around, I get myself out of my room and into the city. I think there’s something about not being in your comfort place that strikes a story or an idea. When I get out, I also people watch. That’s usually where the inspiration begins. The way people carry themselves, the location, the time of day, the age, everything just brings a sense of life back into my ball of inspiration.
Reading always strikes a chord for me. I read novels, to magazines, to ads, to devotions, to old stories I wrote. All these things stir up inspiration within me.
Believe it or not, Pinterest and Instagram are two social media platforms where I get inspired. I find that most of the quotes or photos are awe-ing, beautiful, and thoughtful. Scrolling through photos of nature, landscapes, architecture, fashion, food, cities, there’s something insightful that breathes inspiration.
TALK TO PEOPLE/CATCH UP WITH PEOPLE:
I’m an introvert so while I don’t prefer huge social events, I enjoy sitting down with old friends and catching up. I don’t do this often, but when I do I always find a new sense of inspiration. It’s more like the feeling of being inspired and not so much an idea to write about. However, along with this feeling of inspiration, I find that being able to verbalize my thoughts to someone helps sprout new thoughts and ideas. Friends and family also offer ideas that can spark a new post.
SIT IN SILENCE
This final one is what I do when I need that final push or when I’m not motivated to do the other three. There’s something about just sitting in complete silence that clears the mind and at the same time revives it. I find that in the midst of sitting in silence, inspiration creeps back into me and I’m back to doing what I do.
And those are some things I do to stay inspired.
Those are just a few ways or a few things you can do to stay inspired or to find inspiration. Do you have certain things you do? Let me know in the comments!!
Before I close this post, I wanted to mention this outfit. I’ve been on a striped top craze. I don’t know why, just something about stripes lately. (Thinking about making a video on that soon so make sure to subscribe so you won’t miss it!). This striped top is nothing new, but I decided to pair it with a denim overall dress. This denim overall dress brings back so much childhood memories. I use to own an overall dress & a pair normal of overalls. So, I can’t help but enjoy this overall trend while it’s here because it’s not only casual and chic but very very nostalgic too =)
Thank you for reading! As always, I wish you the best =)
