Unwind after Work || Pink Ruffled Top & Midi Skirt

Hello Hello,

First, how is it already August 21st?! It feels like August literally just started yesterday.
Now about ways to unwind after work.
Like most people, I work a normal 8-5 job. Some days are great, some days are okay, but some days are just looooong. Regardless, after work I like to come home and unwind (if I don’t have errands to run).

I’ve found that if I don’t run my errands or do what I need to do immediately after work, then I won’t want to do them after I’ve come home, changed, and am ready for the day to be over. (Can anyone relate?)

I think unwinding helps me because it’s my break. It’s the break I take before I have to write or edit. Though some people don’t need to unwind, I find unwinding helpful. Here are 3 ways to unwind after work:

1) Change out of your work wear or work clothes
This is one of the first things I do when I get home. I change into relaxing clothes. This helps me to not think about work, and it just feels good to change into more comfortable clothes.

2) Lay down or sit on the floor

After I’ve changed, I lay down. I either lay down on my bed or on the floor. If I’m not laying down, I’m sitting on my faux fur rug leaning against the wall or a pillow. At work I’m either sitting on the a chair or walking around, so I find that just being in a different position helps me relax.

3) Read a book or Play on the Ipad
I also get lost in a book, or I’m on my Ipad watching YouTube videos or playing a game. Doing something different helps get my mind off work and it relaxes my mind before I have to transition into the next thing I have to do for the evening.

And those are three ways I unwind after work. I follow these three unwinding-after-work things pretty religiously.
There are also things I don’t do after work, and I thought I’ll share those with you too.

Things I don’t do to unwind:

1) Take Naps
First, I have accidentally nap after work before (because my body’s obviously too tired). But I try not to. I find that napping actually makes me more tired which doesn’t help me finish writing or editing. Also, it makes me stay up later than I want to, which doesn’t help me the next morning.

2) Talk about my day to people
There are a lot of things that happen at work. I’m also someone who doesn’t mind talking to people about my day. However, after work, I really don’t find myself talking to people. Maybe because at work I’m constantly talking to people. Even when I was in school or lived with my parents, I didn’t talk to people immediately after work unless I absolutely have to. I find peace in the silence, and I don’t mind it.

And those are two things I don’t do to unwind after work. (There are times when I’ve done them, but they’re things I try not to do or just things I don’t do unless I have to).

  2. I love the pop of pink in this look. I used to work (now I am a stay-at-home mom) but when I did, the first thing I did was change into comfy clothes like you. It just puts you in that relaxing mood. I also don’t nap ever. It makes me so groggy and tired and gives me a headache. =) I like to listen to music or take a shower to unwind. xoxo, Christine
